The people behind Bramblewickplay and why we started
Bramblewickplay started with a simple frustration. Browser role-playing games are often reviewed after an afternoon, when their tutorials are shiny and their timers have not yet started to bite. We wanted to read about them from people who had stayed for the second month, joined the guilds and seen how the free path really felt.
So that is what we do. Every game on this site has been played on a fresh account, without spending, over weeks rather than hours. We keep session diaries, compare notes and argue about scores until they hold up. The six games we cover were chosen because they each do something distinct and still run well today.
We are a small team of long-time players based in the UK, with tastes that rarely agree. One of us has Ascended in Kingdom of Loathing more times than is healthy; another would happily spend every evening in a Drakensang Online dungeon. Those disagreements make the reviews better, because every score has to survive someone who loves the genre differently.
Wick, our guide on the homepage, is the house mascot and a reminder of our approach: patient, curious and always carrying a snack for long quests. We hope the site helps you find a browser adventure that fits your evenings, and that you enjoy it as much as we have.
Play long enough to be fair
First impressions flatter some games and undersell others. We play every game for weeks before scoring, so our verdict reflects the game you will actually be living with.
Check every fact twice
Class names, currencies and devices are confirmed against publishers’ pages and community wikis. When a detail cannot be confirmed, we describe the experience rather than guess.
Score honestly, even when it stings
Not every game deserves an eight. We use the full range of our scale, and we say clearly where a game’s free path, interface or pace falls short.
